Digital Bulletin

We send the link to the bulletin in our weekly email newsletter. If you are visiting the church and don't have a smart phone or don't feel like you can manage this on your own, ask one of the Greeters at the church to check out a tablet to use during the service. You can also print the bulletin directly from the link to bring with you, if you prefer!

APRIL IS T-SHIRT MONTH!

Our partners who serve the homeless and marginalized members of our community always need clothing for their clients.

The Mayflower UCC 363 Group's call is to stand in the gap and try to provide as many resources as possible. So, we're asking you to do a little spring cleaning for lightly used shirts and shop for new shirts.

We need T-Shirts of all sizes (XS—XXXL), preferably in neutral colors. The group has created an Amazon Wish List to make it easy for you!

Please bring (or ship) your shirts to the church throughout the month of April.

As always, thank you for your commitment to serving our city and everyone who lives here.

If you have any questions, please email 363@mayflowerucc.org

You asked for it, and here it is. We are happy to announce that our new 2024 T-shirt is available just in time for the upcoming season's events, like Marathon Sunday and ALL of the Pride events scheduled for June. Members of the Deacons and Trustees will be in the church parlor this Sunday, Apr. 14th, to help you make your purchase. The shirts are $20 each and come in a variety of adult sizes. Mayflower's yard signs are also available for purchase for $10

Spring Game Night

Join us Sunday, April 28th, for our Annual All Church Memorial Marathon Cheering Extravaganza, hosted by the Mayflower deacons. This is how and where we will be having church on the 28th. If you are unable to join us on the marathon sidelines, a prerecorded service will be available at 10am on Mayflower's Website, Facebook, and YouTube. We will gather at Flower Garden Park, located at 4701 N Classen Blvd, in Oklahoma City!

The deacons will be there to welcome you from 8:00 am until around 12:00 pm, but feel free to drop by whenever it’s convenient for you. Parking is available along 46th or 47th streets near the Garden, and you can easily access the park by walking across Classen (note: there is no vehicle traffic in that portion of Classen during the Marathon).

Please bring chairs or blankets for seating and to keep warm, as well as your preferred beverage (water/coffee/tea). A canopy will be provided in case of rain or excessive sun. Please note that there are no restroom facilities at this park.

Don't forget to wear your Mayflower T-shirt to show your spirit and support! We look forward to cheering on this year’s runners with you!

Join Building Hope for Sunday School throughout May for conversations about hope. The class meets at 10am in Classroom 1 in the Christian Ed wing.

WEBS new book is "One Nation Under Guns: How Gun Culture Distorts Our History and Threatens Our Democracy" by Dominic Erdozain

Join WEBS for engaging discussion online and in person on Wednesdays at 5:30pm beginning April 17th as they explore One Nation under Guns: How Gun Culture Distorts Our History and Threatens Our Democracy by Dominic Erdozain.

One Nation Under Guns: How Gun Culture Distorts Our History and Threatens Our Democracy by Dominic ErdozainMore than a hundred lives are lost to firearms every day in America. The cost is more than the numbers—it is the fear, the anxiety, the dread of public spaces that an armed society has created under the tortured rubric of freedom. However, the norms of today are not the norms of American history or the values of its founders. They are the product of a gun culture that has imposed its vision on a sleeping nation.

Historian Dominic Erdozain argues that we have wrongly ceded the big-picture argument on guns: As we parse legislation on background checks and automatic-weapons bans, we fail to ask what place guns should have in a functioning democracy. Taking readers on a brilliant historical journey, Erdozain shows how the founders feared the tyranny of individuals as much as the tyranny of kings—the idea that any person had a right to walk around armed was anathema to their notion of freedom and the peaceful republic they hoped to build. They wrote these ideas into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, ideas that were subsequently affirmed by two centuries of jurisprudence.
