WHO: Volunteer Tutors from Crown Heights United Methodist Church and Mayflower Congregational with Students from Putnam Heights Elementary School WHAT: Change lives - one student at a time, with reading tutoring and mentoring WHEN: Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. WHERE: Crown Heights United Methodist Church, 1021 NW 37th Street Whiz Kids volunteers provide one-on-one reading tutoring and mentoring for elementary school children who come from neighborhoods with some of the highest dropout rates in Oklahoma City. The students have been identified by their school as reading below grade level and are in need of a positive, stable influence in their often chaotic lives. Each Thursday, our Whiz Kids Team provides an after-school meal, one hour of tutoring and a 15-minute "Club Time" lesson with moral and biblical principles. NO TEACHING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
