From Creating to Celebrating
The Spirit of Half Full ... to add to the glass that which is of value and has purpose. Kay Bessler-Northcut posed the question, "For what are you living?" The first half of the glass is for those things that are the constant and necessary occupation for our time, talent, and resources. The next half of the cup is for that which we wish to create and celebrate. For what are you living, indeed! If all of your life is consumed by the mundane and arduous efforts of life, we are truly missing out or ... half empty.
Explore and experience ... take your faith to new heights, dismiss previously set limits and expand your tent cords and pegs. New things are happening at Mayflower in the education department ...
- A community outreach venture this fall via an enrichment program for autistic children through the OUHSC Child Studies Center.
- A class for young adults/college students has begun, seeking to expand into an international outreach with International Friends at OCU.
- JustFaith Ecumenical social justice program facilitated by Karen Spradlin beginning this fall.
- A Wednesday Evening Brown Bag Study at 6:00 pm will provide an avenue for the choir and other members to read and grow.
- Previous Sunday morning adult study classes remain strong and vibrant.
- Sunday morning children's classes are growing and teaching our future leaders.
Even as these new endeavors create additional opportunities for celebration, do we dare to dream of a future with an even greater possibilities??
- What if we expand the use of our facilities to tutor those students with educational difficulties, even being an avenue to promote high school graduation and college entrance to at risk students?
- What if we taught young men and women to live for something; the reward of such where moths and rust does not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal?
- What if we supported mission work similar to that in Nicaragua in every continent on the planet?
- What if we sent people short term and long term to places in desperate need of resources and God's love?
- What if ... ???
Do you have a dream ... like that of Joseph, Abraham, Martin, John, Robert Jr.?
