On Sunday, October 7th, World Communion Sunday, Mayflower will receive our third special offering sponsored by the United Church of Christ. This offering, Neighbors in Need, is a special mission offering of the UCC that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. One- third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry. Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects. This past year, through a Neighbors in Need grant, the KS/OK Conference of the UCC received a grant for the People of Faith for Fair Wages Project. Through this project, educational forums are being held in several cities throughout Oklahoma regarding faith, fair wages and poverty.
