The Deacon's Report

The Board of Deacons has been working on numerous items this fall on your behalf. Following are a few of those items:

  • The Board has been working diligently on a new alcohol policy for the church as a result of an increase in requests for use of our facilities for events by outside groups and organizations. There will be a formal written explanation of this new policy in the coming weeks.
  • It has also been brought to the Board's attention that it may be nice to make some cosmetic changes to Milligan Hall since it is the primary place of social interaction among Mayflower members, and, moreover, new visitors to Mayflower, and, that, as such, it should reflect the impeccable attitude and spirit inherent to Mayflower Church. More information on this will be forthcoming as well.
  • The Board has been evaluating new approaches and structure for the new member's reception. The Board is convinced that a more proactive approach to integrating new members into our congregation is absolutely imperative for the growth and vitality of the church. Please feel free to notify the Board of any ideas you may have with regard to the new member's reception that we may be able to incorporate into this process.
  • In an effort to serve the constantly changing needs of a growing church, the Board wants to hear feedback on the Pulpit Series, as to what you do and don't like and how we may be able to change to better accommodate the spiritual and intellectual needs of the congregation when Robin is away during the summer months. Be on the lookout for a survey in the bulletin in the coming weeks.
  • The Board is currently recruiting new board members for 2008 to replace the current deacons who will be completing their term. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on the Board, please contact Josh O'Brien, Chairman of the Board Deacons at jobrien@okcchamber.com.
  • And finally, we are currently outlining a proposed budget for the Board of Deacons for the new fiscal year.

As always thanks for your input and continued support and may God bless!
Sincerely,
Mayflower Board of Deacons
