thanksgiving music to inspire you
Celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, the Chancel Choir will present composer John Rutter's "Te Deum," complete with organ, brass and percussion, during the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Nov. 19. The Te Deum text has been described as:

"... one of the most ancient, and inspiring, of Christian liturgical texts. At one time it was believed to have been jointly written by St. Ambrose and St. Augustine, but recent research suggests it is even older, originating early in the 4th century."  ~John Rutter

In addition to this magnificent work, our Thanksgiving music program will offer festival settings of the congregational hymns for the day.

While previous musical experience is always wonderful, no prior training is necessary; we'll teach you everything you need to know. The ensemble rehearses every Sun. from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. If you've ever dreamed of learning to read music, this is your golden (or bronze) opportunity. For more information, contact Richard Jobe, music director.

season of hope approaches
Advent, the season of hope and expectation, prepares us for the coming of Christ, bringing the world out of Darkness into the Light. Foretold by Hebrew prophets, sung by the Psalmists, and brought to fruition by the Gospels, this time of watching and waiting will be celebrated through various musical offerings from Mayflower's music program. Be watching for the next issue of Voices for specific details.
