on nov 1 a meal, a meeting, and a mission Join us on Wed., Nov 1., not only for Mayflower's Annual Meeting, but for a tasty meal provided by the always inspiring 363 Group. 363 begins serving at 6:30 p.m. and the annual meeting follows at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the meal, raising funds for 363 and highlighting the vital work of this vibrant group. 363's menu for the event is a choice of a pulled pork sandwich, sliced brisket sandwich or a vegetarian dish, along with baked beans, chips, drinks and a dessert. The hearty meal is representative of the food the 363 Group serves to the homeless every other Saturday in Wiley Post Park. The Annual Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser, adventures, trips and helping others -- just four of the many things loved by our special friend Fletcher Vines. Because of Fletcher's loves and our love for him, the Christian Ed board is honoring his memory by establishing The Fletcher Christian Vines Memorial Grant Fund, to help kids & youth go on summer service learning trips like Heifer Ranch and Nicaragua or to summer camps like Peace Camp or Dwight Mission. Proceeds from this year's Spaghetti Lunch on Sun., Nov. 12 will benefit this very special fund. Fletcher always hoped to go on one of the summer trips but due to his illness wasn't able. The hope is that with every kid this special fund helps, we send the fun-loving, adventurous spirit of Fletcher along too. So join us Sunday, Nov. 12, immediately following the second service in Fellowship Hall and get all sauced up for Fletcher. It’s one small way we’ll keep the memory of a wonderful boy alive in the hearts and minds of Mayflower for generations to come. |
