we have four adult classes to spark your heart and mind

By far the biggest comment I hear from people in all walks of life at Mayflower is the yearning for community, for a connection to others.

At Mayflower we are blessed with a multitude of connecting points, not the least of which is Mayflower's adult education offerings, which grow more robust with each passing year. Take a look below at what's on tap in our adult classes in November and you'll see how easy it is to make a connection.

From a series rooted in the thoughts and writing of some of today's outstanding Biblical scholars to an exploration of a correlation between disturbing elephant behavior and the damaged human psyche, you'll find plenty to inspire and challenge you. Select one group or do like one young couple we know, take turns going from group to group. Now that is making connections!

The adult class meeting hour -- 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. -- cuts some gracious slack to weekend lovers who find early rising a thorn in the laid-back side. And for families we have not one, but three childcare workers who can show your kids a few fun games, crayons, and plenty of toys to keep them happy while you spend a little time in more adult encounters.

Feel free to come in jeans, bring your coffee cup and fill it with delicious organic, fair trade coffee in Fellowship Hall, then head to the group of your choice -- we have four adult classes -- to listen, discuss, learn and above all connect with your neighbor.

The Bible
This class is all about exploring the Bible with a lens unfettered by dogma and doctrine.

Beginning Sunday, November 19, the class begins a new study series, a presentation of the “Saving Jesus” DVD series from some of the top Christian theologians of our time including John Shelby Spong and Marcus Borg.

"Saving Jesus" will meet in lieu of the regular adult Bible study class and will be led by both Chris Moore and Robin. Please plan on attending if you are looking for real Biblical grounding in progressive Christian thought.

The Seekers
The Seekers help each other in the individual search for spiritual companionship, hope, directions in life and strength for the journey.

Using their own internal resources to facilitate each Sunday's lesson, the class focuses on presenting and discussing the basic tenants of faith and their relevance in today's world, as well as exploring how to use the teachings of Jesus to compare and contrast with other religions and continue to build a community of faith.
