The tables were beautiful – breathtaking! The food was gourmet delicious (and fun with our mouse dessert!). Mayflower gentlemen were handsome in their formal attire as they served the ladies in their efficient, friendly manner. Mayflower models were poised and beautiful in the clothes from Pat’s, Of Course. The camaraderie and shared friendship warmed everyone’s heart. Yes, I’m talking about the delightful Touch of Spring Luncheon that took place April 12. Thanks for making this day a success go to: Vicki Wilcox, Luncheon Coordinator; Jeanne Mitschke, Kristin Harris, and Merry Knowles for planning and preparing our gourmet menu; Billie Fritch for ticket sales and seating arrangements; Sally Morgan and Mary Ann Robinson for designing our programs; and Beth Filson for our Style Show arrangements. And, a special thank you to those who decorated the tables, sharing their personal treasures and creative ideas, and delighting us all.

A small token of our loving appreciation was presented to Vicki Wilcox. Vicki has coordinated the annual spring luncheon for about (probably over) 20 years. Vicki was presented with a book entitled Designing Modern America: Broadway to Main Street. Knowing of Vicki’s love for the theatre, we chose a history of things that all of us use and enjoy and that were originally designed for the theatre.

Charlotte Lankard presented our April program. She shared her stories with us as she spoke about “Gifts from the Darkness.” Charlotte’s talk inspired us to share our own stories and to look for the gifts in our own life’s struggles.

The May 8 program will feature our Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers who will speak to us about the Jesus Seminar. Hostesses will be Jeanne Garvin, Fran Ford, and Vesta Edwards, and Alene Chase will give our Devotional.

If you want to honor someone you love, consider dedicating one of the hymnals or Bibles to that person. Contact Debbie Van Dyk at 946-9912 to have the proper inscription placed in one of these books and to notify the person, or family, that you are honoring. The $25 cost for each dedication will go to the Plymouth Guild Benevolence Fund.

Lunch at the newly renovated Skirvin Hotel is planned for May 15. Contact Audrey Dragg (751-7043) for reservations with our Third Tuesday Lunch Bunch. Good fellowship and good food – a hard-to-beat combination! Audrey is also going to arrange a tour of the Skirvin for us!

You won’t find many groups having more fun than the Mayflower Bridge group, which will meet May 22 (4th Tuesday) at 10:00 a.m. Men and women are invited to play and to bring a sack lunch and $2 (for prizes and for benevolence). Call Erma Stewart, 341-6978 if you want your name added to the calling list.

Anyone who would like to help with church receptions, please give your name and phone number to Barbara Scoggin (843-4849). She is compiling a list from which she can call for assistance when these occasions arise.
