Temple B’nai Israel and Mayflower Church are again sponsoring a series of sex education classes open to the public for students in 5th and 6th grades and their parents during March. Mayflower encourages taking advantage of this excellent opportunity focusing on sex education and keeping family communication lines open and functioning.
Parents and students completing classes offer glowing testimonials as to the benefits of the program. These classes are offered every other year, and this year will be held at Mayflower. A qualified professional from Planned Parenthood teaches the classes.
Here’s the inside scoop …
- When: Sundays from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
- Where: Mayflower Church, 3901 N.W. 63 Street, Oklahoma City
- Dates: Mar. 4, 11, 18, 25
- Mar. 11 class features separate breakout sessions for girls, boys and parents, as well as times when everyone learns together
- Mar. 25 class features a component on Internet safety plus Pastor Meyers and Rabbi Cohen present and facilitate a discussion on religion and sexual relationships
- Cost: $35 per family with checks made out to Planned Parenthood
- The classes kick off with communal “getting to know each other” over pizza and drinks from 4:30 – 5 p.m. each Sunday. Families are asked to chip in each week to help defray food costs.
- Childcare provided. Please let us know when you register if you will need child care, how many children you plan to bring and their ages.
