THE NEW SANCTUARY MOVEMENT
When I mentioned from the pulpit on Mother's Day that illegal immigrants were the new scapegoat in American politics, and wondered aloud whether Mayflower should become a Sanctuary church, the response was both immediate, and to some, worrisome. What would we be getting ourselves into, and would we be jeopardizing the church we love? ::: more

Mayflower Martha's Circle
June normally signals the suspension of Martha's Circle till September. However, this summer, the fellowship will continue the first Tuesday evening of each month. Reminders will be placed in the Sunday Church bulletin prior to each meeting. The Summer Circle will be a relaxed opportunity for women of the Church to sit around the table and share a meal with no business meeting or planned activities by hostesses.

Special Mission Offerings
As part of Our Church’s Wider Mission, the United Church of Christ has four special mission offerings that Mayflower will collect this year.  The Board of Deacons has approved collection of these offerings for 2007.  At the end of the year, they will analyze overall gifts and decide whether to continue making the offerings a permanent part of our ministry.  We have already participated in the first offering, One Great Hour of Sharing.  In March, you generously gave over $3,000 that will be administered by Wider Church Ministries.  Those monies have gone to support international programs in health, education and agricultural development, emergency relief, refugee ministries and both international and domestic disaster response. ::: more

Plymouth Guild
Infant Crisis Services needs help and the Plymouth Guild voted to have a baby shower for them. Some of the items they especially need are: newborn diapers, preemie diapers, Size 2 diapers, Good Start formula with DHA and ARA, diaper rash ointment, teething toys, rattles, new diaper bags, new clothing (sizes 2T, 3T, and 4T, boys and girls). Please help this vital organization with your gift. June 24 is the deadline date. ::: more
