Plymouth Guild

Infant Crisis Services needs help and the Plymouth Guild voted to have a baby shower for them. Some of the items they especially need are: newborn diapers, preemie diapers, Size 2 diapers, Good Start formula with DHA and ARA, diaper rash ointment, teething toys, rattles, new diaper bags, new clothing (sizes 2T, 3T, and 4T, boys and girls). Please help this vital organization with your gift. June 24 is the deadline date. We will post in the church bulletin where you are to leave your gifts – probably a designated table in Milligan Hall. Thank you for your Mayflower generosity. There are many that will benefit from your gifts to the Infant Crisis Services.

Our May program featured Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers who presented the bound volume of Mayflower’s This I Believe essays to be placed in the church library. This book is to be kept and used in the library; please do not remove. Robin asked some of the Plymouth Guild members to read their essays and he read his essay. Hostesses were Jeanne Garvin, Fran Ford, and Vesta Edwards and Audrey Dragg presented our Devotional.

Vicki Wilcox read a note of appreciation for the funeral reception for her husband, Turner, and said that a donation to Plymouth Guild has been made in his honor. She also presented a huge spatula to the Aunt Bill candy-makers, a gift from Turner, who helped cut the candy each year.

Volunteers to make our Aunt Bill’s candy have come forward and we will begin the candy making in August. If you would like to help, please tell Merry Knowles. The more helpers we have, the more candy we can make to sell – and the more fun everyone has. Yale Scurlock has volunteered to help with the candy cutting and some of the other “big” jobs. We are most grateful for this help.

Debbie Van Dyk reported that John and Jean Boswell dedicated a hymnal in memory of Turner Wilcox and Plymouth Guild dedicated a Bible in his honor. If you want to honor someone you love, consider dedicating one of the hymnals or Bibles to that person. Contact Debbie Van Dyk at 946-9912 to have the proper inscription placed in one of these books and to notify the person or family that you are honoring. The $25 cost for each dedication will go to the Plymouth Guild Benevolence Fund.

Due to too many conflicts at the Skirvin, the Third Tuesday Lunch Bunch changed their May restaurant adventure to the Cafč Do Brazil. The Lunch Bunch will vacation during the summer months and begin their luncheon adventures again in September. Consider becoming a part of the Third Tuesday Lunch Bunch. It is a great way to get to know one another – and a lot of fun.

Mayflower Bridge will meet June 26 (4th Tuesday) at 10:00 a.m. Men and women are invited to play and everyone is asked to bring a sack lunch and $2 (for prizes and for benevolence). You won’t find many groups having more fun! Call Erma Stewart, 341-6978 if you want your name added to the calling list.

Anyone who would like to help with church receptions, please give your name and phone number to Barbara Scoggin (843-4849). She needs a list from which she can call for assistance when these occasions arise.
