Plymouth Guild
The women of Plymouth Guild began the new year at their January 8th meeting with installation of officers for 2008, which had been scheduled to take place at the December meeting. Icy, snowy weather forced the cancellation of that event.
Leading the group this year will be Priscilla Decker, president; Debbie Van Dyke, vice-president; Vesta Edwards, recording secretary; Betty Dambold, treasurer; and Erma Stewart, parliamentarian.
Since the Guild is responsible for oversight of the church kitchen, plus the dishes and linens used for church functions, updates were presented regarding the kitchen inventory, new labels on the kitchen cabinets (thanks to Willie Ream), and storage of the new linens and goblets.
A major Guild project each year is the fall bazaar, which raises thousands of dollars for benevolence and to support the church's programs. The group held a roundtable discussion of possible ways to simplify management of that large undertaking and of the need for more committed workers to help with it.
Two regular fellowship activities are resuming with the new year. The Third Tuesday Lunch Bunch meets at the church at 11 a.m. on (you guessed it!) the third Tuesday of each month and goes together to a metro restaurant for (Yep!) lunch. Audrey Dragg (in the church directory) is the contact person if anyone wants to join them. Mayflower Bridge is for all women and men who like to play bridge. Each person brings a sack lunch and $2 to the Seeker's Room on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Following the regular Guild meeting, the group's benevolence committee, chaired by Billie Fritch, met and agreed to donate a total of $4,650 to 13 charitable organizations.
The next Plymouth Guild meeting will be February 12th at 9:30 a.m. in Milligan Hall. All women of the church are members of Guild and are invited to attend.
