guild welcomed new year at january meeting
Plymouth Guild welcomed the New Year on Jan. 9. Hostesses Beverly Engle, Jean Boswell, and Priscilla Decker delighted those present with their elegant, colorful and festive brunch. Sue Brittain presented a thoughtful devotional entitled “Life for a Reason.”
Vice President Nancy Musselman introduced our speaker, Char Carter, Executive Director of Positive Tomorrows, a non-profit organization whose mission is breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing education and family support. At present, program components are after-school programs, “break camps” when school is out, on-site classes for parents, and help with needs. They hope to reinstate regular school classes as funds permit. At the conclusion of the program, Mayflower member Candy Robinson, who is vice president of Positive Tomorrows, invited Guild members to tour the Positive Tomorrows Center.
guild prepares for annual spring luncheon in april
Vicki Wilcox, chairman for the Annual Spring Luncheon, invited members to volunteer to decorate one of the table settings. All women of the congregation are invited to participate in this fun event. Sign-up sheets for decorating tables are posted in Fellowship Hall. Those who wish to explore their creative side by putting together a table setting have a choice of decorating either a round or rectangular table. This festive occasion is always a complete sell-out (thanks to ticket sales chaired by Billie Fritch); the food is wonderful (to be prepared by Jeannie Mitschke, Kristin Harris, and Merry Knowles); and the style show is always a delight (chaired by Beth Filson with Mayflower models). Mark Thurs., April 12, on your calendar. This is an event that you will not want to miss – and you’ll want to bring friends!
