Martha Circle

December 2007

The smell of spiced hot cider greeted the women of Martha's Circle as they arrived for the monthly meeting on November 6th. Hostesses Merry Knowles and Billie Fritch decorated tables with signs of autumn and Thanksgiving. They provided warm apple pie a la mode as the perfect fall finale to a bountiful potluck buffet. It's a busy time of year for the Church and our families at home, but we all enjoyed taking the time to relax and spend a casual evening together.

The December meeting will be Tuesday, December 4th, at 6:30 p.m. in Milligan Hall. It's become a tradition for Martha's Circle to make a Christmas donation of much needed blankets to Neighbor for Neighbor. Each person can bring one new, unwrapped blanket of any size to the meeting and Billie Fritch will take them to the Neighbor for Neighbor offices. We hear every year how much the families seeking help appreciate getting to select a brand new blanket, which are so needed during the winter months.

It's also our tradition to have a rousing "Dirty Santa" gift exchange at the December meeting, with a stipulation that gifts are purchased for no more than $1.00. So, come for some holiday cheer hosted in December by Beth Filson and Myrna Gowman. Those wishing to participate can bring a blanket donation, a wrapped gift from "the dollar store," $1 for the collection, and a potluck dish to share. Beth and Myrna will provide the dessert and beverages.
