advent is a time of watching, waiting, and hoping
Though merchants wish for us to begin the celebration of Christmas even before the Thanksgiving holiday has arrived, we give, and are given, a special gift when we take the time to prepare our hearts and minds by reflecting in darkness, awaiting the coming of the Christ, the Light of the World. The music featured in Mayflower's worship endeavors to lead us gradually from a darkened world into the light of Christ, fulfilling all hopes and dreams. |

did you know
Did you know that one of our most beloved Christmas carols was composed in the "eleventh hour?" Franz Gruber's "Silent Night" was frantically written as a setting for Joseph Mohr's poem when their church's organ failed on the morning of Christmas Eve. With the organ out of commission, the entire service was accompanied by guitar. |
