Mayflower’s Lawn is truly Green!

Last summer, the Seven Generations Sunday school class read about the harmful affects of traditional, chemical lawn care. We thought about our personal lawns, and we thought about our church lawn. We decided to look into options for chemical free lawn care in Oklahoma City. After some initial research, we stumbled upon Ron Siegman with Natural Lawn of America. We first spoke with his wife Diane. At that time, they were not members of our church, but they had been frequent “visitors”. Ron had just purchased Robin’s newest book, and they were obviously thrilled to learn that Mayflower was looking into chemical free lawn care. The idea of natural lawn care was affirmed by the building and grounds committee, and as of 2007, our lawn is now Chemical Free! Mr. Siegman is donating the lawn care services of Natural Lawn of America to the church.

During the past several months, we have learned that a green lawn does not have to be hazardous to your health or the environment. When it comes to lawn care, many people rely on chemical applications to keep the grass green and free of weeds. However, you can have a truly “green” lawn without the use of toxic chemicals. While traditional lawn care relies on synthetic fertilizers and chemicals, organic-based lawn care uses natural sources for nutrients and control products. Our soil is a living ecosystem with beneficial insects and micro-organisms. Chemical fertilizers and control products can upset the balance in the ecosystem and can produce a chemically dependent lawn. Organic-based lawn care builds a vigorous lawn which does not expose your family to the health risks associated with traditional chemical lawn care. Working with nature, not against it, organic-based lawn care builds a healthy “green” lawn that stays that way.

We hope that you will contact Ron Siegman if you have any questions.
